Terms of Service
Effective 25 July 2026 · Updated 25 July 2026
The English version of this document is the controlling legal text.
These Terms govern your use of Wuri. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read carefully.
1. Who we are
Wuri (“Wuri”, “we”, “us”) provides a digital wallet and payment application for users in Nigeria and other West African markets we support.
Wuri is a technology platform. We are not a bank, deposit-taking institution, or licensed electronic money issuer unless and until a partnership or licence expressly states otherwise. Wallet balances may be held, settled, or safeguarded through partner banks or payment service providers under separate arrangements.
If those partner arrangements change, we may update these Terms or notify you in the app.
2. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding contract in your country of residence.
You must provide accurate registration information (including your legal name and phone number) and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your PIN, device, and OTP codes.
One natural person should maintain one primary personal wallet unless we expressly allow otherwise. Business use may require a merchant or agent account subject to additional checks.
3. The service
Depending on your role and verification level, Wuri may enable you to hold a balance, send and receive payments, pay merchants, use agent cash-in/cash-out, request settlements, view history, and access related features we make available.
Features may be limited by KYC tier, country, risk controls, partner availability, or maintenance. We may add, modify, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.
Some rails (for example mobile-money collection or bank settlement) may operate in sandbox, pilot, or partner-dependent mode. We will not represent a simulated rail as a live bank or operator transfer when it is not.
4. Identity verification (KYC) and compliance
To meet anti-money-laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), and partner requirements, we may require identity documents, selfies, business information, or in-person verification.
You authorise us to verify information you provide and to share necessary data with partners, processors, and competent authorities where required by law or contract.
We may refuse, limit, suspend, or close accounts that fail verification, present elevated risk, or appear linked to prohibited activity.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree to use Wuri only for lawful purposes and only with funds you are entitled to use.
You must not share your PIN, approve transactions you did not initiate, or allow others to control your account except authorised staff on a merchant/agent account.
You must promptly notify support@wuriapp.com if you suspect unauthorised access, loss of your device, or a mistaken payment.
- Do not use Wuri for fraud, scams, money laundering, sanctions evasion, or illegal goods/services.
- Do not attempt to bypass limits, security controls, or device binding.
- Do not reverse-engineer, abuse APIs, or interfere with the platform.
6. Payments, fees, and errors
Transaction amounts, fees, and FX (if any) are shown before you confirm where the UI permits. By confirming with your PIN or biometrics, you authorise the debit/credit described.
Completed ledger transfers between Wuri wallets are generally final. Recovery of mistaken payments may require the recipient’s cooperation and is not guaranteed.
Fees and limits may vary by country, KYC tier, and product. Published schedules in the app or admin configuration control at the time of the transaction.
7. Agents and merchants
Agents and merchants must comply with these Terms, any role-specific rules, and applicable law. You are responsible for your staff, cashiers, and float/settlement instructions.
Settlement to bank accounts depends on correct bank details you provide and on partner bank processing times. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by incorrect details or third-party banks.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Wuri at any time. You may request account closure via support subject to pending transactions, investigations, and legal retention duties.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately if we reasonably believe you breached these Terms, pose risk to users or partners, or if required by law or a banking partner.
On closure, we will handle remaining balances according to applicable law, partner rules, and our Privacy Policy — including screening and verification before any payout.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or virus-free operation.
We do not guarantee that third-party rails (banks, mobile-money operators, networks, device vendors) will be available or will process every request.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including fraud by us or death/personal injury caused by our negligence where such rules apply).
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Wuri AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IN ANY TWELVE (12) MONTH PERIOD IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE FEES YOU PAID TO Wuri FOR THE SERVICE IN THAT PERIOD, OR (B) 50,000 NGN — EXCEPT WHERE A MANDATORY LAW REQUIRES OTHERWISE.
You are responsible for losses arising from your compromised PIN/device, sharing OTPs, or instructions you authorised.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wuri and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or disputes between you and other users, merchants, or agents — except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.
12. Intellectual property
The app, branding, software, and content are owned by Wuri or its licensors. You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works except as allowed by law.
13. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where local law requires explicit consent.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence apply.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact legal@wuriapp.com and attempt good-faith resolution for 30 days. Courts of competent jurisdiction in Lagos, Nigeria shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable consumer venue rights.
